Valutazione redazionale, quattro assi separatiEditorial rating, four separate axes
- AQualità scientifica3/5
- BUtilità clinica3/5
- CValore didattico4/5
- DRilevanza per la specie3/5
Che cosa misurano i quattro assi
- A · Qualità scientifica
- La domanda è ben posta? I metodi sono dichiarati? La statistica è appropriata? La conclusione sta dentro i dati?
- B · Utilità clinica
- Serve a chi ha l’animale davanti, oggi.
- C · Valore didattico
What the four axes measure
- A · Scientific quality
- Is the question well posed? Are the methods stated? Is the statistics appropriate? Does the conclusion stay within the data?
- B · Clinical usefulness
- Useful to whoever has the animal in front of them, today.
- C · Teaching value
- Does it teach something to those studying the subject?
- D · Relevance to the species
- Is it really about camelids, or a result borrowed from another species?
Each axis is worth 1 to 5 stars and carries its written reason. The stars in the index are the rounded average of the four.

Camelid Research Studies APS — redazione CRL · 20/09/2026

◆ ASSOCIATION'S COMMENT
Camelid Research Studies APS — CRL editorial team · 20/09/2026
Why this card exists: until today, anyone wanting a number on the camelid eye had to take it from 1980s America. The reference case series on the camelid eye has, for nearly thirty years, been the one on 194 North American llamas from 1980-1993. It is a good piece of work, but it is North American, it is on llamas, and it has a denominator that no one today could reconstruct. This article is the first European datum on a majority-alpaca population, and this — not the novelty of its results — is why the editorial team chose it as the first card of the issue.
The solid result is the hierarchy, not the percentage. That the cornea is the most affected structure is said by two independent case series thirty years and an ocean apart, with different populations, recording systems, and predominant species. When two studies that err in different ways point in the same direction, the direction holds even when the numbers do not add up together. The 36.4 %, by contrast, is the number of that clinic in those sixteen years, and whoever cites it as «the percentage of corneal disease in camelids» will be using it wrongly.
The datum that truly changes clinical practice is another one, and it is hidden in a piece of arithmetic. It is not the cornea: it is the 52.9 % bilaterality derived from the 104 eyes in 68 animals — an editorial calculation, not the authors'. If more than one camelid in two arrives with both eyes diseased, then the ocular examination of the camelid is never the examination of one eye: it is the examination of a head. And an animal that has lost sight on one side without anyone noticing is an animal that has compensated — that is, an animal that, when the second eye is affected, collapses within days from a condition that seemed stable. This is why the authors' second recommendation — early diagnosis — is reasonable even though, as stated in field 16, it does not follow from their data.
The line that should be read twice is the one on cataracts. The lens carries 22 disorders out of 143, and they are all cataracts; of these, thirteen of twenty-two are incipient. An incipient cataract cannot be seen from three metres away, causes no pain, and is not the reason an owner brings an alpaca to the clinic: it is found only if someone looks inside the eye with the pupil dilated. That in a specialist case series the most frequent form is the earliest one says, above all, that those cataracts were found, not referred. In a routine visit performed without mydriatic, those thirteen do not exist.
What changes for a veterinarian in Italy, today. Three things, none of which requires new equipment. (a) In the camelid the cornea comes before everything else, and the corneal sequence this work documents — keratitis, then ulcer, then melting ulcer, then perforation — is the same disease at four stages, not four diseases. The shares say so: 18 keratitis, 14 ulcers, 9 melting, 7 perforations (editorial numerators). One eye in three of those that reach the specialist arrives at one of the last two stages. (b) Both eyes are examined, always, and laterality is recorded. The arithmetic datum above is the reason. (c) The expected patient is young and male: the association with age is strong (p < 0.001), the one with sex is weak (p = 0.026) and, as stated in field 18, neither has a visible comparison denominator. It should be used to raise the threshold of attention, not to build an at-risk category.
What this card cannot tell you. Which treatment works, with what outcome, in how much time, and at what cost. This study measured none of that, and no honest reading of it can suggest otherwise. Nor can it tell you whether the numbers above are complete: half the fields of this card carry the tag [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT], because the article could not be retrieved from the Europe PMC and PubMed Central programmatic interfaces. Whoever has access to the full text should redo this card: several tags are likely to fall away, and some judgement in field 23 may rise.
1 · Titolo originale
«Ocular diseases in New World camelids presented to the Veterinary University in Vienna: 68 cases (2009-2025)»
1 · Original title
«Ocular diseases in New World camelids presented to the Veterinary University in Vienna: 68 cases (2009-2025)»
Full, untruncated title. The short-dash form is the one used in the PubMed record (efetch, queried on 20/09/2026); the Crossref record writes the range with an en dash, «2009–2025». It is the only difference between the two records, and it is typographic.
2 · Titolo in italiano
Giselbrecht Juliana (ORCID 0000-0003-1012-5977) · Nell Barbara
- Department of Companion Animals and Horses, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Vienna, Austria: entrambi gli autori.
3 · Authors
Complete list, two authors, in the order and form given by the record:
Giselbrecht Juliana (ORCID 0000-0003-1012-5977) · Nell Barbara
The two records agree on the number and order of authors; they do not agree on the ORCID: the first author's identifier is registered in Crossref and does not appear in the PubMed record, which reports no ORCID for either author for this work. No ORCID is registered, in either source, for Nell Barbara.
Affiliation for each author, as recorded in PubMed:
- Department of Companion Animals and Horses, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Vienna, Austria: both authors.
The work therefore comes out of a department for companion animals and horses, not a ruminant clinic: this fact matters, and it comes back in field 18, because the same university has a second clinic that sees camelids and that has published its own case series (CRL-J-05).
4 · Affiliazione dell'autore corrispondente
Giselbrecht Juliana — Department of Companion Animals and Horses, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Vienna, Austria.
4 · Corresponding author's affiliation
Giselbrecht Juliana — Department of Companion Animals and Horses, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Vienna, Austria.
Here the corresponding author is identifiable, and not by deduction: the PubMed record closes her affiliation with «Electronic address: [email protected]», which is the tag by which PubMed records the corresponding address. It is not an inference from author order.
5 · Rivista · anno · volume · fascicolo · pagine

Taken together, this reads as follows: the article is plausibly freely readable on the publisher's website under an open licence, but is not deposited in PubMed Central, and therefore cannot be reached from the programmatic interfaces used for this issue. The editorial team has not checked access on the publisher's website, because it does not fall within the sources admitted for this work: so it does not assert it. Whoever has access should check it, and this card should be redone.
7 · Stato della rivista
Verificato il 20/09/2026. The Veterinary Journal: ISSN 1090-0233 (stampa) e 1532-2971 (elettronico); editore Elsevier BV (Crossref); NLM ID 9706281.
7 · Journal status
Verified on 20/09/2026. The Veterinary Journal: ISSN 1090-0233 (print) and 1532-2971 (electronic); publisher Elsevier BV (Crossref); NLM ID 9706281. PubMed: yes, and the record carries the subset IM — Index Medicus. DOAJ: no — the DOAJ API was queried on issn:1090-0233 on 20/09/2026: 0 results, consistent with a subscription journal that publishes individual open-access articles for a fee. It is one of the reference general journals of veterinary clinical medicine; for a minor-species ophthalmology case series it is an appropriate venue, and more visible than a subspecialty journal.
8 · Licenza dell'articolo

8 · Article licence
Crossref registers three licences for this DOI, read on 20/09/2026:
| Licence | Version | Effective from |
|---|---|---|
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ | version of record (vor) | 01/04/2026 |

https://www.elsevier.com/legal/tdmrep-license | text and data mining | 01/06/2026 |
The first is an open licence: CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 allows full, unmodified redistribution, with attribution and for non-commercial purposes; it does not allow derivative works.
This card reproduces: factual data — which are not covered by copyright — and short quotations from the abstract, which is the only part of the text the editorial team has actually read. No figure, no table, no excerpt of the article body: not out of legal caution, but because they have not been read.
9 · Specie e soggetti
- 68 è il denominatore dei dati anagrafici (età, sesso);
- 104 è il numero di occhi malati;
9 · Species and subjects
New World camelids: 68 animals — 59 alpacas (Vicugna pacos) and 9 llamas (Lama glama), with 104 affected eyes and 143 recorded ocular disorders.
Three different numbers for the same population, and each is the denominator of something:
- 68 is the denominator of the demographic data (age, sex);
- 104 is the number of diseased eyes;
- 143 is the denominator of all the anatomical distribution percentages.
Editorial calculation (not a result of the authors): if 68 animals have 104 affected eyes and every included animal has at least one, then 36 animals had both eyes affected and 32 had only one — that is, 36/68, 52.9 %, was bilateral. This is not an estimate: it is the only possible integer solution. The article states that laterality was recorded, but the abstract does not report it as a result → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. If the arithmetic did not work out this way, it would mean that some animal entered with more than two diseased eyes, which is not the case, or that 104 counts episodes rather than eyes.
Age and sex are reported only as category proportions (field 15), not as a distribution: mean age, median and range are not in the abstract → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT].
Husbandry context: absent. The abstract says nothing about herd management, number of owners, distance from the clinic, or reason for referral → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. It is the datum that is missed the most, because without it there is no way to know whether the 68 animals come from few farms or from sixty-eight.
10 · Domanda clinica (PICO)
Gli autori la formulano come obiettivo, non come quesito: «To investigate the proportion of recorded ocular disorders, their anatomical distribution and clinical presentation of ocular diseases in New World camelids examined at the Veterinary University in Vienna».
10 · Clinical question (PICO)
The study is descriptive: the PICO form applies only in part, and the card states this instead of forcing it.
- P — New World camelids (alpacas and llamas) examined for ophthalmic disorders at a university service, 2009-2025.
- I — no intervention studied: no treatment is under evaluation.
- C — no comparison group, either internal or historical.
- O — proportion of recorded disorders by anatomical category; laterality; final diagnoses; distribution by age and sex; trend in case numbers over the period.
The authors phrase it as an objective, not as a question: «To investigate the proportion of recorded ocular disorders, their anatomical distribution and clinical presentation of ocular diseases in New World camelids examined at the Veterinary University in Vienna».
11 · Disegno dello studio
11 · Study design
Retrospective observational study on medical records — a single-centre case series, with review of records («Medical records … were reviewed retrospectively»). It is not a case series in the strict sense (there is no individual case description), and it is closer to a repeated cross-sectional survey of a service's archive.
12 · Level of evidence
Low — descriptive, single-centre observational study, without a comparison group.
Consequence for the reader: these numbers say what was seen by a university ophthalmology service over sixteen years, and in what proportion to each other. They do not say how frequent ocular disease is in European alpacas, they do not say whether a treatment works, and they do not allow risk comparisons between categories (the association with age and sex is measured within the diseased population only, without the denominator of the animals seen and healthy).
13 · Applicable reporting standard
STROBE — it is an observational study, and STROBE is the standard that applies to it. Whether the authors declare it cannot be verified: the PubMed record contains no statement of adherence to a reporting standard, and the abstract names none → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT].
14 · Metodo
- Periodo: 2009-2025, sedici anni civili.
- Numero di sedi: una.
- Dati raccolti, elencati dagli autori: specie, lateralità, strutture oculari colpite, diagnosi finali.
14 · Method
What is readable in the record, and not one character more:
- Data source: medical records of New World camelids examined for ophthalmic disorders at Vetmeduni Vienna.
- Period: 2009-2025, sixteen calendar years.
- Number of sites: one.
- Data collected, as listed by the authors: species, laterality, affected ocular structures, final diagnoses.
- Primary outcome measure: the proportion of recorded disorders (n = 143) calculated for each anatomical category. It is the only measure stated in the abstract, and it is the reason the denominator of the percentages is 143 and not 68.
- Inclusion and exclusion criteria: not stated beyond «examined for ophthalmic disorders» → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. In particular, it is not known whether animals with an incidental ocular diagnosis made during a visit for another reason were included.
- Statistical methods: not named. The abstract reports two p-values (field 15) without stating which test they were obtained with, nor against which expected distribution → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. This is a gap that matters, because both «significant» statements of this work depend on that test.
- Handling of missing data: not described → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT].
- Ethical approval: not mentioned in the record → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. For a retrospective records study this is often not required, but the card does not infer: it records that it is absent.

L'abstract scrive: «Uveitis accounted for 15.4 % of all recorded disorders, while conjunctivitis occurred in 14.7 % of cases».

Editorial calculation, and what it demonstrates. Applying each stated percentage to the denominator 143 yields an integer, every time, to within one hundredth (36.4 % → 52.05; 12.6 % → 18.02; 0.7 % → 1.00). This confirms that the denominator is 143 for every entry, and allows the reconstruction of numerators that the article does not print. These are numbers of the editorial team, not of the authors, and should be cited as such.
The strongest check is the sum: cornea 52 + conjunctiva 24 + uvea 22 + lens 22 + adnexa 16 = 136, plus the four rare disorders (2 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 7) gives exactly 143. The anatomical categories are therefore mutually exclusive and exhaustive, and no disorder is counted twice. A check the article does not state it performed, and that holds.
From that sum follow three things the abstract does not say: (a) the four corneal conditions listed (18 + 14 + 9 + 7 = 48) do not account for all 52 corneal disorders: four corneal disorders are of another nature and are not named; (b) the 22 lens disorders are all cataracts (13 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 22), and incipient cataract alone accounts for 13 of the 22; (c) the 22 uveal disorders are all uveitis (15.4 % in both rows).
⚠️ The ambiguity that is not resolved. The abstract states: «Uveitis accounted for 15.4 % of all recorded disorders, while conjunctivitis occurred in 14.7 % of cases». The first half of the sentence states the denominator («all recorded disorders» = 143), the second changes it to «cases». Both readings give an integer: 14.7 % of 143 = 21 disorders, 14.7 % of 68 = 10 animals. The arithmetic does not decide, and the card does not choose → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. If the second reading were the correct one, it would be the only percentage in the whole abstract calculated on animals, and it should be read alongside — not together with — all the others.
What the numbers do not contain. No result is stratified by species: the 9 llamas and the 59 alpacas are summed in every row → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. No confidence interval appears anywhere in the abstract. No treatment outcome, no follow-up duration, no enucleation rate or vision-loss rate.
(«Corneal disease was the most frequent ophthalmic diseases in New World camelids» — il refuso di concordanza è nell'originale.)
16 · Authors' interpretation
Attributed, and kept separate from the numbers in field 15. The authors conclude — the two closing sentences of the abstract, in editorial translation:
«Corneal disease was the most frequent ophthalmic disease in New World camelids.» («Corneal disease was the most frequent ophthalmic diseases in New World camelids» — the agreement slip is in the original.)
«These findings highlight the clinical relevance of early diagnosis and targeted management of ocular disease in New World camelids.»
These are two statements of a different nature. The first is a description of their own case series, and the numbers support it. The second is a practice recommendation, and does not follow from the data presented: this study did not measure what happens to eyes diagnosed early versus those diagnosed late. The card records both as the authors' interpretation, and flags the difference.
17 · Limiti dichiarati dagli autori
17 · Limitations stated by the authors
No limitation is stated in the abstract, which is the only part read → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. The discussion section of the article almost certainly contains some: the card cannot cite them, and does not write "the authors acknowledge some limitations", because it does not know that.
Rispetto a metà?
18 · Limitations added by the editorial team
Field distinct from 17. Seven points, in order of weight.
(a) The denominator is whoever was brought in, and to a specialist service at that. 68 animals in sixteen years in a department for companion animals and horses: this is a population selected twice over, by the owner who decides to have the eye seen and by the veterinarian who refers. The proportions between diseases in this series are not the proportions between diseases in the Austrian alpaca population, and are not even those of camelids seen in first-opinion practice.
(b) The percentages are on disorders, and each animal carries more than one. 143 disorders in 68 animals give 2.1 disorders per animal (editorial calculation). When one reads «cornea 36.4 %», one is reading the share of problems, not the share of animals with a corneal problem — which is necessarily higher than the share of problems and cannot be derived.
(c) The two statistical significances have no visible comparison denominator. «Subjects three years old or younger 54.4 %, p < 0.001» is significant against what? Against an expected age distribution of the Austrian camelid population? Against the clinic's other patients? Against half? The abstract does not say, and the test is not named. Without that reference point, one cannot say whether young camelids fall ill more, or simply are more numerous among camelids brought to the clinic → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT]. The same caveat applies to the 61.8 % of males, where the alternative explanation is even more concrete: in European herds the sex composition is not 50/50, and intact males are the ones that fight.
(d) Nine llamas are not enough to say anything about llamas. The work is, in effect, an alpaca case series with nine llamas inside it. Chapter 14 §11 requires the species to be distinguished: here that distinction is not possible because the authors do not stratify, and the card states this instead of implying that the results hold equally for both species.
(e) «Case numbers steadily increased» is not a datum of incidence. The camelid population in Austria may have grown, the service's reputation may have grown, the habit of referring may have grown, or the economic viability of an animal worth enough to bring to an ophthalmologist may have grown. The abstract does not distinguish between these and provides no annual denominator.
(f) Possible, undeclared overlap with CRL-J-05. The ruminant university clinic of the same university published (Hund et al. 2023, CRL-J-05) a 2005-2019 case series in which 12 camelids received antibiotics for ocular disease, with diagnoses of keratoconjunctivitis and corneal ulcers, and 5 were enucleated. The periods overlap for eleven years (2009-2019) and the city is the same. Neither article cites the other, and neither states whether patients were shared between the two services. The editorial team cannot determine this; it records that anyone reading the two works as independent sources might count the same animals twice.
(g) No outcome. Knowing that 4.9 % of disorders were corneal perforations does not say how many of those eyes were saved. For a veterinarian deciding whether to refer, the outcome is the datum that is needed, and it is the one that is missing.
19 · Finanziamento
19 · Funding
Not stated in any of the records consulted. Crossref registers no funder (empty funder list, 20/09/2026); the PubMed record contains no grant entries. The abstract says nothing about it. This is not the same as "no funding" → [TO BE CHECKED AGAINST THE FULL TEXT].
20 · Conflitti di interesse
Dichiarati, e assenti per dichiarazione degli autori. Il record PubMed riporta per esteso: «Declaration of Competing Interest: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper.»
20 · Conflicts of interest
Stated, and absent by the authors' own declaration. The PubMed record reports in full: «Declaration of Competing Interest: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper.»
This is an explicit statement, not a silence — and in a work that evaluates no products or devices there was no reason to expect otherwise.
- criteri di eleggibilità (voce 6): non riportati;
- fonti dei dati e metodi di misurazione (voce 8): dichiarate le variabili raccolte, non il modo in cui sono state accertate (chi ha posto la diagnosi, con quale strumentazione, con quale definizione di «cheratite»);
- metodi statistici (voce 12): non nominati, pur essendoci due valori di p;
- dimensione dello studio (voce 10): non giustificata, come è normale in una casistica di convenienza, ma neppure dichiarata come tale;
- dati mancanti (voce 12c): non descritti;
- flusso dei partecipanti (voce 13): non riportato — quanti camelidi sono stati esaminati in totale nel periodo, e quanti esclusi e perché;
- misure di precisione, intervalli di confidenza (voce 16): assenti ovunque;
- limiti (voce 19): non presenti nell'abstract;
- finanziamento (voce 22): assente.
21 · What is missing relative to the reporting standard
Against STROBE (observational studies), based on the abstract alone:
- eligibility criteria (item 6): not reported;
- data sources and measurement methods (item 8): the variables collected are stated, not how they were ascertained (who made the diagnosis, with what instrumentation, with what definition of «keratitis»);
- statistical methods (item 12): not named, despite there being two p-values;
- study size (item 10): not justified, as is normal in a convenience case series, but not stated as such either;
- missing data (item 12c): not described;
- participant flow (item 13): not reported — how many camelids were examined in total over the period, and how many were excluded and why;
- precision measures, confidence intervals (item 16): absent throughout;
- limitations (item 19): not present in the abstract;
- funding (item 22): absent.
⚠️ The list is a measure of what could be read, not of what the authors wrote. A structured abstract is not required to contain any of these items. The card records this so the reader knows exactly what the judgement in field 23 was based on.
23 · Valutazione a stelle
23 · Star rating
Four independent axes, criteria from chapter 14 §11. Caveat weighing on all four rows: the score was assigned on the accessible record alone — abstract, Crossref metadata, Europe PMC metadata and PubMed — because the full text was not retrieved. If anyone reads it, this rating should be redone.
| Axis | Score | Rationale, with one fact inside |
|---|---|---|
| A — Scientific quality | ★★★☆☆ | Observational study with numbers stated at three levels (68 animals, 104 eyes, 143 disorders), explicit and mutually exclusive anatomical categories — the sum of the reconstructed numerators comes to exactly 143 — and basic analysis with two p-values. Does not rise to four because the statistical test is not named, there is not a single confidence interval, eligibility criteria are not readable and no reporting standard is declared. Does not fall to two because the structure of the data withstands arithmetic verification, which is not a given. |
| B — Clinical utility | ★★★☆☆ | Reorders the differential list of the camelid eye with a frequency datum specific to the species and the continent — cornea first of all, incipient cataract more common than mature — and grounds a precise operational step (always examine both eyes, because of the 52.9 % bilaterality). Does not reach four because it contains neither a protocol nor an outcome: no one can apply it «with reasonable confidence» to a case, because it does not say what happens to the case. (Constraint of chapter 14 §11 respected: B does not exceed A.) |
| C — Educational value | ★★★★☆ | Teaches two things at once: the anatomical distribution of ocular disease in the species, and — unintentionally — how to read a percentage when the denominator changes within the same sentence (the conjunctivitis case, field 15). The reconstruction of the numerators is lecture material on reasoning with denominators. Does not reach five because without the full text the images and the differential discussion are missing, which are the educational core of an ophthalmology case series. |
| D — Relevance to the species | ★★★☆☆ | Study on camelids, in Europe, in a clinical and management context directly comparable to the Italian one: qualitative transferability is high. Remains at three and does not rise to four because the grid reserves the fourth star for large or multicentre studies, and this is single-centre with 68 animals over sixteen years; and because the 9 llamas are not stratified from the 59 alpacas, meaning the card cannot tell a llama practitioner that these numbers are theirs. |
24 · Bottom line
24 · Bottom line
It can be concluded that: over sixteen years of activity of a European university ophthalmology service, in 68 New World camelids with 104 affected eyes and 143 recorded disorders, the cornea was the most frequently affected structure (36.4 %, 52/143), followed by conjunctiva (16.8 %), uvea and lens (15.4 % each); that all lens disorders were cataracts and all uveal disorders were uveitis; and that patients were predominantly three years old or younger (54.4 %, p < 0.001) and male (61.8 %, p = 0.026). That the cornea is the main target in the species is supported also by the historical North American llama case series, independent of this one.
It cannot be concluded that: these are prevalences of ocular disease in European camelids — the denominator is the case series of a specialist service, not a population; that young or male camelids fall ill more — the association is measured within the diseased only, without the denominator of the animals seen; that the results hold equally for llamas as for alpacas — nine llamas, not stratified; and that early diagnosis improves outcome — this study measured no outcome, and the authors' recommendation on the matter is an opinion, not a result.

- CRL-J-05 (this issue) — case series from the same university, another clinic, overlapping period: 12 camelids treated with antibiotics for ocular disease, 5 enucleations. Should be read alongside this one, and with the caveat of field 18 (f).
- CRL-F — diagnostic imaging: for what is needed when the eye cannot be examined directly (globe, orbit, retrobulbar structures).
- CRL-J-02 (this issue) — the other work in the issue where ultrasound decides a course of action, and where the case series is even smaller.
- Chapter 10 §3 of the KT (version 2) — full overview of the camelid eye, including the North American case series on 194 llamas, keratomycosis and the subpalpebral lavage system; and §3.1, where it is documented that the «41 % corneal disease» cited by the previous version of the KT does not exist in the literature.
